Launch the trainer first, then launch the Game and then Press F1 at the Main Menu.

Listen for "Activated".

For Governor Gold, this is the value on the upper left of the screen which is next to the yellow circle with the brown box inside it. The other options are for the unit displayed to the right and you can see most of these stats if you press the little magnifying glass to open the unit.
